10 Reasons WrestleMania 32 Was A Huge Disappointment

3. Surprises? What Surprises?

Outside of the previously mentioned appearances from the like of Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley, Steve Austin and The Rock, the only other “surprise” was the appearance of John Cena, a man we all expected to be at the show in some form anyway.

WrestleMania has made its name on big moments and shocking occurrences and this year we got…John Cena?

There was a contingent of fans who let their imaginations run wild as they fantasy booked The Bullet Club appearing to help Shane McMahon defeat The Undertaker, or interfere in the New Day match to kick off a feud with WWE’s hottest tag team. None of that happened.

We were also hoping for something, anything to break up the obvious story of Roman Reigns overcoming Triple H to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, such as a heel turn, interference or hell, even an alien invasion. Anything other than the one thing we all expected to happen.

And yet…nothing. In fact, I think this show can be better defined by the fact that it happened exactly the way we expected it to, with paint-by-numbers booking in many of the matches.

We all knew Shane McMahon would pull a ridiculous stunt and everyone figured (and feared) Reigns would conquer the “villain” to a chorus of thunderous boos and expected Dean Ambrose would put up a valiant effort while falling painfully short during his visit to Suplex City.

And all that happened with not even the tiniest wrinkle.
