10 Reasons WWE Doesn't Attract New Fans

4. Childish Humour

Wrestling can be funny. If you’ve ever seen someone like Colt Cabana do their thing, then you know that. As an art form it is inherently ridiculous and playing off that can lead to genuine laugh out loud moments. The problem isn’t that wrestling can’t be funny - it’s that WWE is apparently incapable of it.

A lot of which comes down to the sense of humour of one man. Vincent Kennedy McMahon. It’s no secret that Vince’s funny bone is about seventy years younger than him. His idea of great humour is a fat joke or something involving bodily functions and quite frankly it’s tiresome. It’s hard to get invested in a product that is aiming its laugh at five-year-olds.

Childish humour doesn’t have to be bad. Fart jokes and silly quips can be funny. However, WWE’s aren’t. In fact, a lot of the time they come across as downright mean. Their jokes are set up to belittle people. Trying to convince a new fan that it is worth seeing past that to the product behind it is a hard task.
