10 Reasons WWE Fans Need To Realise Dean Ambrose Is Not Main Event Talent

He's not a bad good. He's not a good guy. He's just an ordinary guy...

How many times have you watched Raw or SmackDown of late and, no matter your personal opinions of the performer, come to the realisation that no matter how many times WWE tries to convince you that Dean Ambrose is a legitimate main event star, he simply is not.

That is not to say he is not a talented individual that the company can rely on to bring considerable work ethic, entertaining angles and quality matches. What it means is there are definitive elements of his performance, and others that he cannot control, keeping him from achieving elite status in wrestling's greatest promotion.

He has competed against the biggest and best, headlined pay-per-views and is consistently in high-profile programs on Raw and SmackDown. Yet, he has been unable to build momentum for himself as an unquestioned main event talent.

Why?

Take a look for yourself.

10. Inconsistent Performances

How many times have fans found themselves eagerly anticipating a Dean Ambrose pay-per-view bout, only to be wildly disappointed by the finished product? While hardcore fandom of The Lunatic Fringe may initially prevent one from admitting such an unfathomable thing, there is no denying that Ambrose's performances in high-profile matches are often inconsistent, to say the least.

This past March, fans watched in awe as he and Triple H tore the house down in Toronto as part of WWE's Roadblock special. That main event inspired fans to the point that it was not uncommon to see pleas across social media for Ambrose to supplant Roman Reigns in the WrestleMania main event. While that turned out not to be the case, he had proven his ability to have an excellent main event match with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Then, weeks later at The Showcase of the Immortals, he wrestled a completely underwhelming Street Fight against Brock Lesnar. Flash forward two months to Extreme Rules and fans were once again exposed to a disappointing Ambrose performance, this time in the absurd Asylum match with Chris Jericho.

There will always be excuses drummed up to explain away any fault but at some point, he has to shoulder some of the blame.
