10 Reasons WWE Fans Should Boycott WrestleMania 31
6. Super Cena vs. Rusev Is Boring
At the conclusion of the Royal Rumble event, Rusev and John Cena had a staredown, setting the stage for a match at Wrestlemania that pretty much no one asked for. Part of the reason is that Rusev has only been smashing midcard jobbers for the better part of a year and really hasn't moved up the card at all. The other reason is that everyone already knows the outcome: John Cena will be facing odds that seem insurmountable and all the women/children in the audience will be jumping up and down while Cena struggles in the Accolade submission hold. Undoubtedly, Cena will fight his way out of it and conquer Rusev, finally ending the unbeaten streak because Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect blah blah blah. In a time when WWE should be putting over new stars, they seem to be doing the exact opposite. Instead of allowing a newcomer to defeat an established guy, they build up a new guy as a huge threat and then have an established guy beat him clean to send him spiraling down to opening matches. it's completely counterproductive and makes no sense in the long run of the company. We've all come to grips with the fact that a John Cena heel turn is never going to happen, but does he really need to beat every single person on the roster? Can't there be one person who smacks the crap out of him during that stupid "You can't see me" pose and then just pins him? No, because then the kids won't buy the brand new neon green John Cena t-shirt and that just can't happen.
