10 Reasons WWE Have Made Their Biggest Mistake In 13 years

3. All Characters Are Diminished

It isn't just Daniel Bryan's character who has been hurt in all of this - all the top headliners have lost stock because of the perplexing booking. Batista more so than anyone. He should have been the much loved hero returning to the WWE, but instead he has been perceived as the part timer coming in to steal Daniel Bryan's spot - all because WWE didn't do what they should have done and had Bryan win the Rumble. All the value of Batista as a face is now up in smoke. Cena and Orton are also hurt. They had to endure an excruciating amount of Daniel Bryan chants in their WWE title match. By not having the natural number one contender in the match, the company had made life difficult for Cena the enforced number 1 contender. To Cena's credit he seemed to acknowledge the Bryan chants and himself looked embarrassed. Even Bray Wyatt has indirectly had his character hurt despite the huge win over Bryan and Cena angle on Sunday. When Bray attacked John Cena it should have been a heavy heel moment, but instead fans cheered for Bray. Cena is perceived as a man who has been booked in Bryan's spot, so Wyatt beating Cena up is seen as a face move. The Wyatt and Cena Mania bout as such is in as much danger as the Batista Orton contest. Fans just aren't going to get on board with WWE's ideas.
