10 Reasons WWE Might Bring Back The World Heavyweight Championship

10. It Gives Smackdown Meaning

Right now, if you skip watching Smackdown, you'll miss absolutely nothing of consequence. WWE should be addressing that and giving the blue brand a selling point, especially with them wanting to get a move to Thursday nights at some point in the future. Right now you have a show that just feels like a subdued version of Raw. There's some decent matches, but they can't buck the perception that they're kind of just existing for the sake of it. In contrast, Raw feels like the arena where things happen. Why can't Smackdown be like that too? A restoration of the World Heavyweight Championship could be the fix needed. If WWE assigned it exclusively to the Friday show, it would give us the reason to tune in, at the same time as not diluting the power of the WWE Championship on Monday nights. Take a look back to the Smackdown on January 8th 2013. The main event that night was a World Heavyweight Championship bout, with Alberto Del Rio toppling The Big Show in a Last Man Standing effort. As a prop, that's the kind of show closer Smackdown can get with the WHC.
