10 Reasons WWE Might Bring Back The World Heavyweight Championship

7. WrestleMania 31 On The Horizon

With WrestleMania 31 just six months away, WWE will already be scrambling to assemble a range of big matches. Every contest of the extravaganza should be 'main event' equivalent. Unfortunately, outside of John Cena and part timers like Brock Lesnar, WWE don't really have much in the way of main event talent. The World Title coming back would help to remedy this. It'd be a tool to make more main eventers and would give a spot at WrestleMania just a little more meaning. Strong Mania line-ups of the past benefited from a certain structure: WWE Title Match, Streak Match, World Title Match. You're currently looking at no streak match and no world title match. All WWE has is the one selling point, compared to a few years ago when they had the three. Surely that hurts the card? Surely they'd be better off restoring one of the few selling points they had? What could be an idea is Roman Reigns winning the Royal Rumble to battle Brock Lesnar for the WWE Title, and Dean Ambrose battling Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship earlier in the show. You could then do a happy ending of WWE Champion Reigns being joined by World Champion Ambrose to close the show, just like the moment Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero shared at the climax of WrestleMania 20.
