10 Reasons WWE Should Bring Back The Hardcore Title In 2016
4. It Could Redefine Superstars
Don't panic, we're not idiots: obviously, Dean Ambrose's gimmick, if it can be called that, is far from stale. He's simply been given a bit of a difficult time making it properly translate. What should be a dangerous, exciting wrestler has been dumbed down somewhat into a bit of a whacky Scrappy Doo, the Lunatic Fringe becoming less of a deranged asshole who'll drag your bloodied carcass through nails and more of a, like, totes bonks zaniac who'll jump off stuff and, er, stuff. Imagine, though, once the initial madness and fun and japes of the 24/7 rule started to wear a bit thin, if the entire hardcore division was built around Dean Ambrose. A man with the manner of Roddy Piper and the unpredictability of Mick Foley. He could lay claim to the title, determined to make it mean something again, beating away endless opponents to become one of the most feared and respected champs in the company. And it doesn't end there! We mentioned a cowardly Miz holding the division hostage by refusing to adhere to the 24/7 rule, but that could work for a ton of great heels. Imagine Kevin Owens being given full reign to powerbomb everyone through everything. Or Wade Barrett becoming a bare knuckle-fighting, no-holds-barred badass. Give the right superstar the ball to run with and the Hardcore Title could be something very special indeed.
