10 Reasons WWE Should Remove Donald Trump From Hall Of Fame
5. Hulk Hogan
A lot of the previous items have detailed reasons why WWE
should remove Donald Trump from its Hall of Fame, centering on his misogyny,
xenophobia and world views of him. And some might have rolled their eyes and
said, “Well, Trump is not an active part of WWE, and why should they remove him
from their Hall of Fame just because he spoke his mind and some people don’t
like what he said?”.
Two words: Hulk Hogan.
Hogan is synonymous with professional wrestling. He’s a six-time WWF/E Champion who was a main attraction at the first nine WrestleManias. He’s a sports entertainment icon who helped bring wrestling into the mainstream. For all the bluster and negative stories about him, Hogan’s contributions to the industry cannot be ignored.
However, despite being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005, he has not showed up on the company’s HOF website for a year, effectively being removed from the Hall. And why has the Immortal Hulk Hogan been scrubbed from WWE’s Hall of Fame (and as a judge on “Tough Enough” midseason)?
Last year, a 2007 recording of Hogan making anti-black comments deemed racist – including using the “N-word” repeatedly – was leaked. The backlash was immediate, and in its statement announcing that Hogan had been fired, WWE said it “is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide”.
If someone who has made the contributions to WWE and
professional wrestling like Hogan is removed from the WWE Hall of Fame and
basically scrubbed from existence due to racist comments, how in the blue hell
is Trump allowed to remain?
You can apply that reasoning to every item before and after this one. Call it the 'Hogan Test'.
