This year's SummerSlam was built up almost as an equivalent to WrestleMania, a huge four-hour show to mark the end of the summer, featuring a massive marquee match and a title vs title clash. In the end, it's hard to recognise the PPV as the huge success WWE envisioned. The only legitimately great match on the show was Cena vs Rollins, and it suffered from a very debatable ending - as did the hugely-hyped Undertaker vs Lesnar rematch. The amount of filler on a show billed as one of the biggest of the year was similarly disappointing. Much of the PPV felt more like an elongated version of Battleground or Payback, rather than one of the traditional 'big four' events. Ultimately, SummerSlam is unlikely to be remembered as the gigantic show it was billed as, but rather 'that PPV where Jon Stewart turned heel, and Undertaker scored a cheap win over Lesnar'.
