1. Maybe WWE Are Testing Him With The Intercontinental Championship
Maybe all we need is some patience. They have to be testing him with this run as IC Champion, right? His run as United States Champion while he was a member of The Shield is arguably one of the most pointless runs in that history. It felt like he never defended it, making the belt's prestige as low as it's been throughout its illustrious history. Now he's being forced to defend his IC title against the likes of Kevin Owens, someone Triple H at least sees as a future WWE World Heavyweight Champion. You would have to think WWE were testing the waters with Ambrose, and seeing if he can actually shoulder the responsibility that comes with holding a WWE Championship. It's a case of slow burn booking which is undoubtedly frustrating for some fans, but booking that will ultimately benefit The Lunatic Fringe in the long run. We've all seen how terribly things can pan out when a superstar is handed too much too soon, so WWE would be wise to take their time with Ambrose and see where things lead. Hopefully, it's all the way to the top.
