10 Reasons WWE WrestleMania 39 Weekend Absolutely SUCKED
7. Theory Remains Just That
Ever since John Cena told Austin Theory that the latter's name suited him perfectly - that he's the ideal superstar in theory alone - it's been a stigma Austin has found difficult to shake.
A series of meandering pre-'Mania promos didn't really help Austin's cause, and - appropriately enough - the resultant match at WrestleMania Night One was a hot opener only in theory. Despite being given a prominent spot on the card, Theory put in a flat, uninspired performance that failed to warrant the faith placed in him.
Make no mistake - WWE knew what they were doing when they paired him with Dominik Mysterio on the post-WrestleMania RAW. By putting Theory together with a genuinely great heel in Dom, WWE are blatantly hoping Theory can leech off the latter's nuclear heat to elevate his own diminished standing.
Theory is undoubtedly talented, and at only 25 years of age there's plenty of time for him to find his footing as a WWE superstar. But WrestleMania weekend acted as a stark reminder that he's still got a long way to go to fulfil his potential, and no stopgap solutions are going to change that.
