Just under two weeks ago, Cesaro was interviewed by the Liverpool ECHO ahead of the upcoming WWE European tour. Over the course of the interview, he was asked about the new wave of wrestlers like himself, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, and how quickly fans are embracing them. His answer summed up the frustrations of many WWE fans.
Exactly. It is a new era of guys, its a new generation, and its a lot of fun to watch that because there are fresh match-ups. I mean Im sick of seeing John Cena against Randy Orton for the 500th time."
Superstars like Cena and Orton have been in WWE for over twelve years, yet WWE is still running them against each other despite obvious fan apathy. Just last year, WWEs planned main event for WrestleMania XXX was Randy Orton v Batista and it wasnt until fan outcry that they added in a fresher face with Daniel Bryan. A year later, and it seems nothing has changed. WWE still seems reluctant to trust anyone other than their established main eventers, and a disappointing summer period has already alienated many fans. If the quality of Raw and SmackDown doesnt pick up before WrestleMania Season then were in for a rough time.
