10 Recent WWE PPVs That Were Worse Than WWE Fastlane 2016

8. Royal Rumble 2014

WWE's attempt (and ultimately, failure) to manipulate fans into accepting a Daniel Bryan loss at the 2015 Royal Rumble was informed by what had happened the previous year. Heading into the 2014 event, Daniel Bryan was the most popular superstar in the company, but WWE executives were heavily invested in Batista, who had recently returned after a four year absence. "The Animal" was considered the favorite to win the Rumble match, but fans held out hope for Bryan. As the Royal Rumble drew to its conclusion, fans continued to believe that Bryan would win - until Rey Mysterio entered at number 30, showing that The Yes! Man was not even part of the match. The crowd booed angrily, and kept the antipathy going to the end of the show, where Batista eliminated Roman Reigns to win the Rumble match, just like everybody feared. Bryan's only appearance on the PPV came in the opener, where he lost to Bray Wyatt in the match of the night. Wyatt would later go on to cost John Cena a WWE Title match with Randy Orton, while Brock Lesnar beat The Big Show easily after a pre-match steel chair assault.
