6. The Vaudevillains

Simon Gotch and Aiden English will perhaps never again hear a crowd roar comparable to the one channelled in their direction from the rapturous NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn audience.

Dethroning the aforementioned Blake and Murphy unit (alongside cult favourite Blue Pants making one of her final appearances for the developmental brand), The Vaudevillains' long-awaited ascent to the top of the tag team ladder in NXT was a false dawn for the vintage pairing, with their success ironically coming right as they passed their sell-by date.

On the same night they won the NXT doubles straps, the pre-show television taping saw Enzo, Cass and The Hype Bros teaming up to defeat a collective quartet of heels that would eventually become known best as The Revival and American Alpha.

Dash Wilder, Scott Dawson, Jason Jordan and Chad Gable completely redefined tag team wrestling in Orlando, and the already-dated Vaudevillains should have been called up to the main roster long before they eventually were.

The delay only hampered their progress, and a tepid first year on the main roster ultimately forced Simon Gotch out of the company altogether. Since then, he has yet to set the independent wrestling world on fire, whilst Aiden English remains painfully underused on SmackDown Live!'s worthless undercard. Brooklyn 2015 may have only been two years ago, but for the novelty duo, it must feel like a lifetime.
