This was fun while it lasted, wasn't it?

To be fair, the shelf life on this ridiculous gimmick was always going to be a short one, and we need to give major credit to both Ezekiel and Kevin Owens for getting it over to the lengths that they did. It's not easy to take something so ridiculous and make it the most entertaining part of the show.

For the usual slow month after WrestleMania, Ezekiel was the talk of WWE, and honestly, it defies logic how over he got. As Elias, the grappler knew how to hold the crowd in the palm of his hand, and as his 'younger brother', the former Drifter showed some pretty decent, earnest, babyface potential.

But then the bell rang and, unfortunately, Ezekiel just isn't quite the electric performer who can keep the momentum going, and once Owens disappeared from TV for a few weeks, it soon became clear how much the gimmick needed the exasperated foil provided by the Prizefighter.

Upon his return, Owens essentially killed off the character with a brutal beatdown and we probably won't be seeing Ezekiel ever again. We will see the performer, however - with Elias set to return to WWE TV on next week's Raw.

There are two positives from the whole experience. One was the great babyface potential of Elias, and two, let the man take his shirt off. What a body!
