10 Recent WWE Character Turns That Didn't Make Sense
6. Cesaro
In this current age of sports-entertainment, legit babyface superstars are in short supply. Finding and developing characters that connect with the majority of today's fan base is a difficult task. It's been discussed how WWE had several superstars with breakout babyface potential in Cody Rhodes and Ryback, but they also had it with Cesaro in 2014.
Gaining fan support heading into WrestleMania XXX, Cesaro had the most memorable moment of his career when he body-slammed The Big Show over the top rope to win the inaugural Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. At the time, it wasn't clear what that victory would mean.
Was it going to be the next Money In The Bank or would it simply be forgotten weeks later like most outcomes on WWE television? Unfortunately, it was more the latter than the former.
Coming out of WrestleMania XXX, WWE decided to turn Cesaro heel and pair him with Paul Heyman. This resulted in a massive losing streak which evaporated all the momentum Cesaro had previously built.
Along with being told to refrain from using the Big Swing in fear of the dreaded fan support, WWE separated Cesaro from Heyman after only a few months together and he's yet to reach the heights he seemed so ready to scale back in early 2014.
