The task of attributing the beginning of the Attitude Era isn't something easily done (at least not during this article), but it can be apportioned somewhat to one of WWE's most enduring midcard stars. Goldust debuted in 1995, immediately kicking up a fuss and causing controversy with is intentionally outrageous, provocative and sexually ambigious character. There had never really been anyone like Goldust in WWE before, as he flirted with opponents and performed suggestive sexual acts. His character was scandalous, but it survived to the point that it still exists (albeit a watered down version) even to this day. After the initial shock of Goldust, fans began to not only warm to him, but enjoyed the new, edgier side of wrestling that he represented and was beginning to emerge. Soon after the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin & D-Generation X would pick up the Attitude ball and run with it, but if it weren't for Goldust, there might not have been a ball in the first place.
