The man once and again known as KENTA had a real rough time in WWE.

He was signed with great fanfare in 2014 and pushed a top star in NXT alongside men like Bo Dallas, Finn Balor, and Neville.

Itami was supposed to be part of a triple threat match to determine the number one contender to the NXT Championship. However, Itami was written out of the TakeOver: Unstoppable match to take time off to heal a shoulder injury.

It's never been reported that Itami was due to win this match, but the resulting title bout between Finn Balor and Kevin Owens took place in Itami's home country of Japan, so there is definitely reason to speculate.

After over a year away, Itami made his grand return to NXT and inserted himself into a feud with Austin Aries. But, as has been the case with so many entries on this list, Itami's good times did not last.

Itami hurt his neck and was forced to take another nine months off, which denied us the dream team of he and Kota Ibushi in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Itami never got going in WWE, which is a real shame. Thankfully, he seems to be doing very well for himself elsewhere.
