10 Ridiculous Finishes To WWE And WCW World Title Matches

7. Summerslam 2011 - CM Punk vs John Cena For The Undisputed WWE Championship

John Cena and CM Punk's feud brightened up the dull wrestling calendar in 2011, but the feud prematurely ended due to a sloppy finish which derailed the storyline completely. After their fantastic match at 2011's Money In The Bank, CM Punk bailed with the championship in an angle that had CM Punk run off with the company's primary title. They held a tournament to crown a new champion which Rey Mysterio won. On that very same show, John Cena won back the WWE title and CM Punk returned, leading up a match to determine the true champion at Summerslam. The match itself was fine in terms of wrestling, but got messy in its closing minutes. When CM Punk hit John Cena with a second GTS, he was down for the three count but had his leg on the ropes, but special guest referee Triple H didn't see this. CM Punk was controversially crowned the new undisputed champion, but was attacked and laid out with a Jackknife Powerbomb from a returning Kevin Nash. CM Punk laid there in the ring giving Alberto Del Rio the perfect chance to cash in on his Money in the Bank briefcase on the wounded champion, Del Rio wins. A Kevin Nash run-in happening in 2011 is unbelievable, it sounds like something that would happen on Nitro in '99. It robbed the match of the true ending and champion that the fans wanted, whilst adding so many unnecessary questions to the mix that future storylines would have to deal with. CM Punk went off to feud with Triple H, whilst John Cena won the title again the very next pay-per-view. The finish ruined a great match, feud and potentially a great title run. The Kevin Nash run-in was irrelevant and needless.
