10 Ridiculous Finishes To WWE And WCW World Title Matches

3. Bash At The Beach 2000 - Jeff Jarrett vs Hulk Hogan For The WCW World Heavyweight Championship

Hulk Hogan may have breathed new life into WCW in 1994, but by the year 2000, Vince Russo desperately wanted rid of the aging star. The initial plan for Bash At The Beach was for Hogan to lose to Jarrett, but Hogan had an iron clad contract that essentially said he had creative control and didn't have to do anything that displeased him. The end result made Bash At The Beach more akin to a 2 hour long shoot than a pay-per-view. Hogan and Jarrett come down to the ring, as Russo tells Jarrett to lay down which he does. A bemused Hogan puts a boot on Jarrett, the ref counts, Hogan gets the belt ending the match at the 1:20 mark. Russo then gets on the mic, shoots on Hogan and fires him and says the last match is completely discounted, as Hogan walks off with the belt. One match later, Russo comes out with a new WCW World Heavyweight title, Jeff Jarrett and Booker T come down and wrestle with Booker getting the win. A wrestling pay-per-view is no place to air your dirty laundry, or fire the talent. When a fan buys a pay-per-view, they're buying a product, they expect that product to have a certain standard of quality to it. This wasn't a bad decision, a stupid finish or a minor oversight, this just straight up lying to the fan base. The failure to provide a highly advertised match at all, is the worst kind of finish a match can ever have.
