10 Ridiculous Tag-Teams WWE Missed Out On

4. 'Bad Sports' (MVP & The Goon)

MVP The Goon
WWE

No, not that MVP.

Before Montel Vontavious Porter, the WWF had a face-painted Steve Lombardi in 1993. His baseball gimmick was seemingly patterned after 'The Furies' group from 1979 movie The Warriors - a later version, known as Abe 'Knuckleball' Schwartz was dusted off in 1994 to capitalise on the then-current MLB strike.

A few years later, Bill Irwin assumed the role of another renegade sports star when he became NHL bad boy 'The Goon' in 1993. This would've been the ideal time to bring Lombardi's ball player persona back for a brief run and put him with the ice hockey scrapper. Why not? It's not like Goon was succeeding on his own anyway.

Together, MVP and Goon might've been handed a hammy name like 'Bad Sports' to reflect their menace on the field and rinks. Maybe an apology is due in advance if Vince McMahon reads these words (ha) and thinks something like this could work in 2020.
