Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns have significant history together. Not only was Bryan part of the trio that took on The Shield in their debut PPV match at TLC 2012, but the intense adoration from fans towards The American Dragon led to the nightmarish reaction to the 2015 Royal Rumble.
Babyface Roman never recovered from the backlash of not being Daniel Bryan.
They put on a modern classic at Fastlane 2015, one of the best WWE matches of the 2010s, but Roman's win only furthered the divide between him and the WWE fanbase. They briefly seemed like they were going to have their second major match in 2019, but the storyline fizzled out before reaching that crescendo.
