While the hints were stronger at an Undisputed Era break-up before Kyle O’Reilly’s challenge for the NXT Championship at Takeover 31, the signs that Adam Cole, Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong could kick out Kyle still exist and, if booked correctly, could lead to the best feud of 2021.

The Undisputed Era have thrived over the last three and a half years of NXT dominance. They’ve done everything they possibly can, completely obliterating their opponents as heels and continuing their reign of power as babyfaces. Their recent face turn has worked as they’re considerably popular, but Adam Cole in particular is made for the dark side.

Considering how over Kyle has gotten as a singles babyface, being betrayed by his leader and best friend would unite fans behind him further and lead to masterpieces of violence between himself and Cole. Their matches together in ROH and NJPW prove that they have undeniable chemistry and the fanbase’s emotional investment in The Undisputed Era will ensure this becomes the most emotional storyline of 2021.

NXT are great at booking heartbroken babyfaces who can’t stop fighting their former friends, this is the perfect version of that storyline in the current era.
