9. Neville: Mighty Mouse

Neville has since come out and confirmed that the rumour was merely a myth, but it was a pretty persistent one for a while. Despite being 5'10", and taller than the average guy, the Geordie is quite a bit shorter than most of his colleagues in World Wrestling Entertainment. As such, the rumour that spread was that Vince McMahon wanted a superhero character of sorts, and Neville was to be their guy.

Not only a superhero, but a superhero in the style of Mighty Mouse. The rumour went further, stating that this idea came about because of his impressive physique and equally impressive ears. Similar rumours had the same gimmick bandied about for Chris Candido in the '90s, and will surely resurface in the future for someone new.

'Mighty Mouse' is pretty much a gimmick that is guaranteed to be dead on arrival. Myth or not, a bullet was dodged.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
