10 Saddest TNA Departures

7. Magnus

Magnus was just a pup when he started in TNA, and at first, it didnt look like he belonged. He needed a bit more grooming. Dixie Carter was apparently a big fan of his, and he received a weird push as a Roman gladiator. It flopped. He wasnt ready for the role, and was paired with Douglas Williams in the British Invasion. There he began to show signs of growing talent, and perhaps a future as a singles star.

But TNA kept delaying a big push for him. He had the look, and the confidence on the mic, but he was paired in one tag team after the other. Finally, he got his big break, and was rushed into a feud with Sting, and later given the TNA Heavyweight Title. There wasnt a build to support the quick ascension, and he was pushed as a cowardly wrestler who was lucky to hold onto the gold.

What makes his departure upsetting is that the man was one of the few homegrown stars that the company could have had treated as a big deal. But his push was bungled at nearly every step along the way. Hopefully the man still has a bright future in wrestling, as hes improved enough to prove that he belongs in a major promotion.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
