10 Saddest TNA Departures

6. Jeff Jarrett

Jeff Jarrett may have badly, embarrassingly over-pushed himself the first few years of TNAs existence, but dammit the man helped start the company! There is no TNA without Jarrett (for better or for worse), so to see him lose control, get ousted from power and taken off TV completely was a bit of a shock.

For over 12 years he was with the company in a variety of on and off-screen roles. He was head of the booking committee during a time of impressive growth that saw Impact land on Spike TV, and move from a one hour Saturday night timeslot to a two hour one on Thursday evenings. On screen he headed up multiple stables, delivered a reliable veteran presence, and put in some quality in-ring action.

But a real-life relationship with Karen Ange (Kurt Angles ex-wife) seemed to be the beginning of the end. Jarrett was told by Dixie Carter to go home for a bit. He eventually returned, but he was never quite pushed as a big deal again. His contributions to the company began to be minimized, as did his on-screen role. Eventually he left altogether to form Global Force Wrestling. How can there even be a TNA without Jarrett? It was shocking departure, but perhaps one that was the best for both parties.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
