10 Saddest TNA Departures
5. Sting
Stings best years were in WCW, but it was actually kind of cool seeing him in TNA...for a bit. At the companys one year anniversary, Slammiversay, The Icon showed up to wrestle, giving the struggling promotion a big boost in perception. Here was a guy who could easily have been in WWE, fighting the likes of Stone Cold and The Rock, but he was helping out his old friend Jeff Jarrett.
Though it probably wasnt best for business, Sting was often pushed as the top star in the company. He was in big matches with Jarrett, Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe, holding their world title five times. While he didnt always seem to give it his all in the ring, the man sure as hell tried to switch up his character. He could have relied on The Crow gimmick until he called it a career, but he had a pretty solid heel turn in the Main Event Mafia and an...interesting run as The Joker.
In January 2014, Sting lost a match to Magnus, which per the stipulations, meant he had to leave the company. That was pretty much it. The man who was almost always in the main event scene, and at times their biggest star finally went to WWE. It was great for Vince McMahon, but terrible to the perception of TNA.
