By being relatively normal, Jake Roberts is the odd one out on this list. He's probably the least intimidating in terms of appearance, but can rightly be regarded as terrifying for so many other reasons. Very few wrestlers before or since have shared his dark charisma; in an era of larger-than-life figures such as Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior, Roberts spoke quietly and calmly. Although less showy than his fellow wrestlers, Jake's promos were renowned for their believable nature. Through the force of his words, he could become a genuinely intimidating man His pet snake, Damien, is also a key reason of course. Roberts would infamously set the python on incapacitated opponents after matches, while sometimes using him by terrifying such imposing figures as Andre The Giant out of the ring. A variety of snakes were used following Damien's demise, including a (de-venomized) king cobra which bloodied Randy Savage, creating one of the most horrifying moments in WWE history. This year, Jake was finally inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, a much-deserved recognition of his captivating ability. He is widely regarded as one of the finest wrestlers never to win a world championship.
