10 Scrapped Wrestling Moments BETTER Than What We Got!

3. MJF And CM Punk Go To War Again At Full Gear 2022

Has there been a better story told on AEW programming than the one unleashed by CM Punk and MJF on the road to Revolution 2022?

The Punker and 'The Salt of the Earth's deeply personal war had folks glued to their screens each and every week, desperate to know how this particularly intense and inspired plot would thicken. Then, after disappearing from AEW TV for a spell post-Double or Nothing weekend fan event drama and his own controversial pipe bomb, Maxwell returned at All Out after Punk's victory over Jon Moxley.

The direction forward seemed clear. Punk would defend his AEW World Championship against a Casino Ladder Match-winning MJF at Full Gear. And that was actually the plan (via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter).

However, Tony Khan's dreams of reviving arguably the best rivalry his company has ever boasted were soon dashed thanks to a little backstage incident ultimately known as Brawl Out. With Punk and The Elite suspended, and the former also injured, the call was then made to have Maxwell conquer Mox for the AEW World Championship instead.

Now again, it's not that Mox and Max's main event fight was completely terrible by any means, but very few would've likely chosen that All Out 2020 rematch over one more thrilling round between Punk and Friedman over the belt - and think of the glorious promo battles, too.

It would have just been better than that Mox program, and you know it.
