WWE's Ruthless Aggression documentary series aired on the Network in 2020, and it told one of the biggest lies ever. According to this in-house production, Vince McMahon chose to change the name from WWF in 2002 because he "wanted to take the company in a new direction" and go down the entertainment route.

Nobody believes that.

In truth, significant legal action from the World Wildlife Fund forced McMahon's hand. His "Get The F Out" campaign portrayed this as a positive, but the fact is he and the rebranded WWE had no choice. It was either switch or get sued and presumably lose in courts anyway.

The doc brazenly said Vince deliberately changed for the betterment of his fanbase and the product as a whole. This lie was one of the outright worst WWE has ever told, and it smeared the otherwise fine documentary output they'd uploaded to the Network since launch.

Distorting elements of reality to tell a better tale is one thing. Full on talking sh*te and insulting viewer intelligence is another.
