10 Seriously Overlooked WWE Heels

6. Doink The Clown

There's a sense that Vince McMahon didn't quite know what he had on his hands when first green lighting the original Doink The Clown character. Played by Matt Osborne, the circus clown had a truly foreboding presence that was only heightened by some seriously creepy entrance music.

Amidst dark soundscapes, the clown could be heard laughing maniacally. Wrestling fans, kids and adults alike, were genuinely frightened by Doink. The initial heel run would only last around a year before the clown was turned into a lame babyface, a creative decision which completely stripped the character of any and all menace.

From there, Doink became more of a nuisance than an asset to programming. There was definitely more that could have been done with Osborne's portrayal, although admittedly the wrestler himself did suffer from personal problems that got in the way of his career.

Had Osborne been able to stay away from his demons, Doink The Clown may just have been vindicated as a heel. As things stand, many fans put blame on the shoulders of management for turning Doink babyface.
