10 Sh*tty Storylines Bobbly Lashley Endured En Route To WWE Championship

For a while, it felt like WWE wasn’t sure what to do with Bobby Lashley. He possessed great in-ring and promo skills, as well as a physique impressive enough to make the chairman salivate. Still, he received the classic push-pull, often finding himself amongst other underutilized misfits.

After feuding with Kevin Owens, many hoped WWE intended to have Lashley ascend to the top, but… nope. Soon there was further concern that he would never claim the world title after setting his sights on Elias again. There was little to prove, as he already feuded with the new-age Jeff Jarrett before.

The initial encounters between Elias did little to peak interest, and the second round fell just as flat, despite WWE breaking out the gimmick gallery. At TLC, Lashley and Elias competed in a Ladder Match with a guitar suspended up high. No one expected anything new from the two, and they delivered nothing less. Worse, though, the payoff to the bout fell flat, as a million guitars were destroyed by that point.

Proving match stipulations are hardly relevant in WWE, Elias was victorious at TLC, but Lashley still got to weaponize the guitar. Perhaps this was a way to protect him in defeat, but it served Lashley little good as he also lost to Elias during a Miracle on the 34th Streetfight soon after. With all the shenanigans and 50-50 booking, would things get better for Mr Lashley from there? No, you big silly. Of course not.
