10 Shocking Backstage Incidents Involving WWE's Creative Team

8. Hunger Games

In addition to not getting sick days, several former WWE creative writers have indicated that they don't get lunch hours either. Domenic Cotter was one such WWE writer who ended up starving. He told Power Slam magazine that he'd be hungry and thirsty, yet €œVince would always eat in front of us during the meetings€(He had) some sort of beef wrap with ketchup€The meetings usually ran the entire day without food.€ The double standards must have proved especially frustrating. Vince and Stephanie would be tucking into meals right in front of the creative team. As for the catering buffet that the wrestlers get at Raw and Smackdown, we can only presume it was off limits to the writing staff. Whether this is a case of bitter ex-employees or genuine mistreatment is debatable. No army should march on an empty stomach, but then you've also got to fit in with the needs of a company. When it comes to lengthy script sessions, you've got to expect it'll be a long shift, potentially without breaks. That's just the nature of the beast when writing a weekly three hour TV show into a long term narrative.
