10 Shocking Behind The Scenes Stories WCW Didn’t Want You To Know

It's a little-known fact that Charles Wright, who worked as Papa Shango, Kama Mustafa and The Godfather in WWE, almost became an enforcer for the nWo in WCW. He was all set to make the jump too, but Ron Simmons stepped in to warn his friend about problems he might run into in Atlanta.

Namely, racism.

Wright told the 'Scheduled For Two Falls' podcast that Simmons was forthright with his comments, and was only worried that his mate would (rightly) respond negatively to the bigotry. When Charles revealed that he'd 100% fight back against any racism, Ron told him to stay put in the WWF rather than put himself through that.

Later, Wright watched Virgil get "clowned" by the nWo and was relieved that he hadn't joined WCW after all. It's absolutely appalling that any wrestler felt they wouldn't be welcome in the company due to their skin colour though. That just should not have been an issue.
