10 Shocking (But Believable) Theories About WWE In 2015
8. CM Punk Will Fail At MMA And Return To WWE
The Theory: CM Punk will be unsuccessful in his UFC career, realise that he was more suited to WWE competition and return for a final, lucrative run. The Evidence: Doubts having been hanging over Punk's MMA pursuits ever since he announced that he was going to compete in the UFC. The Ultimate Fighting Championship is just that - it is the ultimate, the best fighting organisation in the world. Punk is really jumping in at the deep end by having his first fight there. Add to that the fact that Punk is thirty six years old and has a catalogue of injuries and you can begin to see why most MMA analysts are questioning his chances. Punk has remained stone-faced in interviews, claiming that he is not daunted by the task that lays before him and that he's looking forward to proving his critics wrong. Punk may have blasted WWE, made many personal remarks about people in positions of power there and vowed never to return, but this is wrestling we're talking about and almost everyone returns at some point. Punk is still young in wrestling and could easily return and slot right back into a main event slot, although he would definitely want a reduced schedule and other perks if he were to do so. Will It Happen: Yes and no. Punk could very easily turn out be a flop in the UFC, but at least he's got the balls to try it. A lot of people have openly castigated Punk over his decision but he is following his dream and could surprise one or two people with his showings. Nobody really knows what to expect from Punk, other than that his first UFC fight will do a huge buy rate for the company. Punk will not, however, be returning to WWE any time soon (at least not in 2015). The wounds are still too fresh and he clearly has no desire to do so, referring to himself as a retired professional wrestler. Plus, he is now contracted to the UFC so he couldn' return even if he wanted to. Punk may return to WWE one day, but that day won't be anytime this year.
