3. Goldberg Returns For One-Off Match
The Theory: That Bill Goldberg will once again enter a WWE ring for a one-off match (probably at WrestleMania) twelve years after he last wrestled for the company. The Evidence: Goldberg didn't like his year working for WWE, a point he has made clear during numerous interviews he has given since. He has never ruled out a return to the company, though, and has in fact hinted that it's something he'd possibly like to do if the time and situation were right. One of the main temptations for Goldberg to come back and have another match is so that his wife and son can see him wrestle in person for the first time. However, as Goldberg pointed out to Ring Rust Radio in October - 'The itch will always be there because I am always a competitor...Let me be clear, though; that itch wont supersede my ability to be a businessman'. Yes, Goldberg has 'the itch', which was evident when he came out during a Legends of Wrestling event and blasted Scott Steiner with a roof-raising spear. As he rightly points out, mind, his services won't come cheap and if WWE want Da Man, they're going to have to cough up some serious change. Elsewhere in the interview, Goldberg name-dropped Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar as potential opponents, both of whom are obvious long-shots. Will It Happen: Goldberg might be tempted with a fat paycheque and the promise of a heroic victory in front of his family on a huge stage. But then again there's every chance that WWE will summarise that the 49-year-old simply isn't worth the time or the money. Goldberg's entrance would certainly tear the house down and, if the match is kept short and he's in there with the right opponent, it could work as a nice bit of nostalgia (Goldberg still keeps himself in fantastic shape). If Goldberg were to come back for a major match at, say, WrestleMania 32 he'll be hoping it doesn't turn out like the last time he made an appearance at the Showcase of the Immortals...
