10 Shocking (But Believable) Theories About WWE In 2017
1. Roman Reigns Turns Heel
Predicting a Roman Reigns heel turn is like predicting that the sun will explode - yes, it's going to happen eventually, but it might take billions of years. WWE had the pitch-perfect opportunity to turn Reigns at WrestleMania - he could have been congratulated by The Rock after his championship win and then Speared him to become a bad guy. Instead, nothing happened.
Fans continue to hate Roman Reigns - a trip to the midcard that was supposed to engender good will toward him didn't change the fact that he was still the most-featured wrestler on the card, and it's already over. At Roadblock, he'll be challenging Kevin Owens for the Universal Title.
Sure, WWE has been stubborn, but 2017 will mark the third year that the company has been pushing Reigns as the top babyface with nothing to show for it. Raw's ratings are falling to embarrassing levels, and eventually, it will be time to negotiate new TV contracts. At some point, the company has to realize that turning Reigns is actually the safe bet. Here's hoping that it happens in 2017.
