10 Shocking Jobs Wrestlers Held After Leaving The Spotlight
6. Shane Douglas - Target Employee
Shane Douglas is one of the most influential personalities in ECW history. Having been a key part of the ECW "hardcore revolution", Douglas had spells in all three major US wrestling companies in the '90s, as well as a notable run in TNA from 2002. However, Douglas took a surprising career path post-TNA in 2007.
Opting to leave the wrestling business, Douglas entered into the Target Stores' Management Training Programme at the recommendation of a friend. Douglas has since said that the retail giant were looking to attract former professional athletes at the time and aiming to funnel this demographic into their management system. Having spent 25 years in the sports entertainment industry, Douglas fit this criteria perfectly, and soon became part of the programme.
With a background in managerial positions behind the scenes at both ECW and TNA, Douglas also had educational experience in management, making the transition away from the sports entertainment world more logical than it may have seemed. However, the career at Target wouldn't last and, by 2009, Douglas was back in wrestling and performing for TNA once again.
While his final tenure with company was brief, his resurfacing in TNA marked a permanent return to the wrestling business - and Douglas has been actively involved in sports entertainment ever since.
