4. Eric Bischoff Tells Raven That He (And Others) Have Never Drawn Money, Raven Promptly Receives His Release From WCW
While angry at WCW employees for WCW slipping behind the WWF in the weekly ratings battle, Eric Bischoff reportedly claimed that besides Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper, that no other WCW talents had ever drawn a dime in pro wrestling. Angered and only wanting those there who wanted to help WCW reclaim their lead in the Monday Night Wars, Bischoff offered any wrestler who wanted their release at that moment the opportunity to leave WCW. Dissatisfied with WCW's creative direction, Raven promptly stood up, left the meeting Levy and was granted his release. Not that Raven was headed towards unseating Goldberg, Scott Steiner, Hulk Hogan or Kevin Nash, but his immediate release (and subsequent year-long stint in ECW, followed by a run in WWE) over such a ridiculous statement by Bischoff proves why WCW is no longer in business.
