In one fell swoop, Paul Bearer accused The Undertaker of being a murderer and revealed his brother Kane was alive in mid-1997. This followed a well-worked story during which the manager coerced his ex-client into working with him again, otherwise he'd reveal a dangerous secret.

That secret was twofold.

According to Bearer, not only was 'Taker a killer, but he had also tried to hide his own sibling from the world and badly burned Kane's face. When the portly Bearer told his charge that Kane was coming back to gain revenge, Undertaker's facial expressions were world class. Without even seeing what Kane looked like, fans knew he should be taken seriously.

Kane wouldn't debut for several months, only appearing to cost 'Taker the first ever Hell In A Cell match against Shawn Michaels in October. The mystery behind Kane's character instantly made him one of the WWF's most alluring stars, and that fascinations owes much to Bearer's revelation.
