You'll hear some industry critics lambast AEW for taking potshots at WWE on programming like Dynamite and Rampage. Generally, it's considered a bad thing if one company takes a swing at the other, although a fair few fans do still get a kick out of these jabs.

ECW became the king of needless digs in the 1990s.

In retrospect, repeatedly hearing commentators like Cyrus (Don Callis) take a pop at both the WWF and WCW made ECW look smalltime. This sort of thing worked during feuds like the aforementioned Jerry Lawler vs. Tommy Dreamer business, but it just didn't fly as a full-time concern.

Also, hearing Joey Styles, Cyrus and others remark about WCW's production values in the late-90s rings hollow when ECW's own grimy feel is actually one of the group's main selling points. So, it was fine for them to be shabby (because they didn't have as much money), but anyone else doing it was wrong?
