In the history books, Kevin Nash is listed as the first person to ever defeat Bill Goldberg. After amassing 173 consecutive victories, and with zero defeats to his name, it was Big Sexy who finally took down Da Man in controversial fashion at the 1998 edition of WCW's Starrcade PPV.

Before then, though, Goldberg had actually pitched for someone else to end his streak. That person? Why, that'd be 'Beautiful' Bobby Eaton.

Eaton has long been revered as one of the smoothest, most fundamentally sound wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots, with colleague after colleague regularly falling over themselves to try and explain just how good the Midnight Express star was.

Speaking to Steve Austin, Goldberg explained how he had petitioned WCW management hard to let Beautiful Bobby end the streak during a show in Huntsville, Alabama - Eaton's hometown.

"There's a lot of people who really helped me that a lot of people have no idea about. Like zero. Eaton helped me out so much, Sting so much. We're in the middle of my streak and I still don't know sh*t from Shinola. And we are in his home fricking town, right, and he is putting me over that night. I am begging Arn Anderson to let me put him over. Whether it's a show or not, I wanted him to be the man that night. It meant everything to me. In the beginning I don't know the brevity of the streak, but frick, as a man, I wanted to do that. I don't want to say that I'm a great guy. I just want people to understand that that's me. That's my thought process. And in that night, in that moment, it meant more for me to make him the guy than anything about this streak thing that they were talking about."

WCW management obviously shot down this idea, but if Da Man had gotten his way, it would've been Bobby Eaton getting the prestige of ending Goldberg's streak.
