10 Shocking WCW Results You Never Saw Coming

2. The Fingerpoke Of Doom - Monday Nitro 4/1/99

For years, WCW was known for giving away the results of Monday Night Raw tapings. Raw would often air one show live and then tape another show to air the next week, while Monday Nitro was always live. On January 4th, Tony Schiavone told the world what WWF€™s main event was.
"Fans for those of you thinking about switching your televisions over to our competition, don't bother, we understand that Mick Foley who wrestled here as Cactus Jack is gonna win their world title, Ha that'll put a lot of butts in the seats€
Hundreds of thousands of viewers switched channels immediately, giving WWF a huge victory in the Monday Night War, and to make matters worse, the ones who did stay tuned witnessed the worst main event in WCW history. Kevin Nash v Hulk Hogan was built up as the epic clash between the two nWo factions at the time, but what happened next was anything but. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08oiGEPxHmQ Almost immediately after the bell rung, Hulk Hogan poked Kevin Nash in the chest and he sold it like a gunshot. Hogan then covered Nash for the three-count to become the new WCW World Heavyweight Champion. This was to symbolise the union of the two nWos back into one large stable but fans had had enough of their ego stroking antics, and many cite this night as the true end of the Monday Night War, over two years before Vince McMahon would buy WCW.
