10 Shocking WCW Results You Never Saw Coming

1. Hulk Hogan Betrays WCW - Bash At The Beach 1996

In May 1996, Scott Hall arrived in WCW and immediately made an impact. He would arrive through the crowd and threaten that he was planning to invade WCW, and he had allies that would be joining him. A few weeks later, Kevin Nash arrived and the two, dubbed The Outsiders, challenged WCW to a match at Bash at the Beach. It would be three of WCW€™s best vs Hall, Nash and the €œthird man€. The event came, and there was no third man to be seen. Nash and Hall held their own against the team of Lex Luger, Sting and Randy Savage and even began to get the upper hand against WCW€™s representatives. When everything seemed hopeless, Hulk Hogan returned seemingly to rescue his allies, but instead hit his leg drop on Savage, betraying WCW. There was a time where it seemed inconceivable that Hogan would turn heel, having been the very definition of a babyface for over ten years. The fans reacted aggressively, pelting the the ring with garbage as Hogan revealed his alliance with Hall and Nash and declared the trio €œthe New World Order of professional wrestling€. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO9zxsRzN-M It€™s interesting to think that it almost didn€™t happen as Hogan was reticent at the idea of becoming the villain, and Eric Bischoff didn€™t know if he€™d even show up to the event, going so far as to tell Sting that if Hogan didn€™t arrive, then he€™d be the third man. It turned out to be the risk WCW needed, and what would become the nWo would be the creative backbone that took WCW Monday Nitro past Monday Night Raw in the ratings as both promotions battled for supremacy.
