10 Shocking WWE Plans You Won't Believe Almost Happened

5. Game Changing Plans

Triple H Wrestlemania 18

Triple H has widely been rumoured to have influenced WWE plans throughout his career. What is known for certain is that on two occasions he proactively engineered changes to two separate WrestleManias.

At WrestleMania X8, the main event was initially planned to feature The Rock vs. 'Hollywood' Hulk Hogan but The Game successfully lobbied for the main event to change and feature his WWE Championship match with Chris Jericho instead. As a result, following the Hogan/Rock match an emotionally-spent audience was forced to endure an anti-climatic replacement, which ultimately ended the event on a rather underwhelming note.

A year later at WrestleMania XIX he was at it again, changing the plans for his World Heavyweight Championship match with Booker T. The original plan was for Booker to win and become World Heavyweight Champion, but Hunter convinced management that it was the wrong move and successfully had the match changed so that he would retain the gold (there were also rumours that the Book turned up to pre-WrestleMania Raw taping hungover and in poor condition which may have also played a part in it).

If Booker T had won the World Heavyweight Championship it might have given his gimmick a much needed refresh years before his King Booker gimmick change. What eventually transpired at both WrestleMania X8 and XIX was original WWE plans altered by Triple H to suit Triple H.
