10 Shocking WWE Plans You Won't Believe Almost Happened

4. The Plan For 'Imposter' Kane

In 2006 an unmasked Kane came face to face with a fully masked 'Imposter' Kane. This storyline was rumoured to have been penned following speculation that Glenn Jacobs was contemplating retirement.

As a result, WWE, not wanting to abandon the character, decided to create an 'Imposter' Kane based on Kane's 1997 debut. This would allow the man portraying 'Imposter Kane' - Drew Hankinson, aka Festus, aka Luke Gallows - the opportunity to portray the character hidden from the scrutiny of the WWE fans.

The plan was to have 'Imposter Kane' revealed as the real Kane that the Glenn Jacobs Kane had imprisoned for years before stealing his identity. The plans were dropped when the storyline flopped and Jacobs decided to hold off his retirement. Had Jacobs decided to take his gold watch, we may be watching Hankinson as the masked Kane on WWE TV today.
