10 Most Shocking WWE Releases This Decade

8. Carlito - Released On May 21, 2010

WWE.comWWE.comGetting rid of Calrito doesn't seem cool on WWE€™s part, but it may have been necessary. While he had been pushed to the side the past couple of years during his run, it seemed that at any time he could have got himself back on track. WWE had also brought in his younger brother Primo to team with him, so it felt like Carlito€™s employment was pretty secure. Unfortunately, after seven years on the air, it was an alleged addiction to painkillers, and a wellness policy failure that left WWE with little choice but to let him go. Carlito had a natural charisma and a distinct look that made him seem destined to become a star. WWE tried to get him to that level, but it never quite worked out. He had a reputation for being difficult to work with backstage, as well as a being a bit lazy. Still, he should have been able to coast by with his natural talents. However, while he may have been cool, he wasn€™t happy with his career. He hated the fact that he€™d been turned babyface, and felt he was a natural heel. Nothing was going right for him. Carlito was let go from WWE in 2010 after failing a wellness policy test and refusing to go to treatment. Meanwhile his less charismatic brother remains employed...as a bullfighter.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
