10 Shockingly Realistic WWE Angles

8. Ron Bass Slices Open Brutus Beefcake

While the NWA was known for violent, rugged and bloody angles during the 1980s, the WWF was seen as positively cartoonish and hokey in comparison. Very rarely did WWE present something as realistic as the Tully Blanchard versus Magnum T.A. I Quit Cage match and bleeding was a big no-no. Which is why the angle involving Ron Bass and Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake from 1988 was so shocking. 'Outlaw' Ron Bass was a big, burly cowboy who came to the ring to the sound of a bullwhip. He also wore trademark spurs on his wrestling boots. These spurs would play a huge role in his feud with Beefcake. During a routine match on WWF TV, Bass attacked Beefcake and sliced his head open using the spurs and then placed his bullwhip around his neck and dragged him around the ring. The angle was so shocking for the time that the WWF could only air it with a giant X obscuring the scene. The angle did go out uncensored in Canada, however, and can be viewed below. It might not look so realistic now, but keep in mind that this was the cartoon era and these things never happened. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwpZC1hgaKc
