9. Randy Savage (1 Day - April, 1998)

At the Spring Stampede 1998 Pay-Per-View, Randy Savage defeated Sting to win the WCW World Title. This was Savage's third run with the belt, and it would prove to be one of the shortest. The story was that Kevin Nash helped 'Macho Man' win the title, mainly to screw with Hollywood Hogan. The nWo was splintering badly, and this furthered the tale. It was fine for WCW top brass to book such a story, but the World Title was treated like a background prop. Really, the title should have been the focal point of the angle, or not used in it at all. Just 24 hours after winning the strap, Savage dropped it to Hogan in a No Disqualification encounter on Nitro. Again, this was all to play up the story of the nWo exploding due to internal battles. Another reason why this title reign was so ridiculous will be explored later in this article, and it involves the man who lost to Savage at Spring Stampede. Just a few months earlier, Sting had been arguably WCW's top star. Now, he was little more than a pawn in the never-ending fight for dominance in the New World Order. Using Sting and the World Title in this manner was a mistake.
